Hot Buttered Rum

Move over eggnog... I have found a hot new beverage that is probably full of way too many calories.

Just one... I promise I will keep it to one. Ok, maybe two? Three and 2 hours at the gym? Send help. 

I am kidding guys!


This drink is crazy delicious though. Am I the only one who hasn't ever tried one until now? At first when I realized this was a classic holiday cocktail (I had to do a lot of cocktail research for 25 holiday inspired cocktails.) I was playing around with the idea of spicing it up with holiday flavors. But heck, I've never tried a hot buttered rum before so I didn't exactly want to jump into the deep end on this one. 

So let's get to it!

Ingredients (makes 1 serving)

1/4 sticks butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup confectioners sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup vanilla ice cream, softened

2 shots of spiced rum

1 oz hot water


Add butter, brown sugar, and sugar into a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and add ice cream, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and whisky until ice cream has melted. Pour mixture into a glass and add hot water and a few shots of spice rum.
