Yesterday after work, we decided a happy hour was necessary, so we headed over to Julep in Westport. I don't know about you guys, but to me, there is something victorious about having a cocktail (or two... we don't judge) after a loooooong hump day.
I know what you're thinking... what did we wear?
Well, it's Breast Cancer Awareness month! We just had to rock some pink. We're all about saving the boobies! Ladies, self-exams are important! Visit the
website to donate or find out more about breast cancer awareness.
Why'd we choose Julep?
"Bringing class and kickass cocktails to Westport", their website reads. Naturally, two classy, kickass ladies like us just HAD to check it out. We're glad we did.
First, the place is beautiful. When you walk in, the first thing you notice are the beautiful, tall shelves and rolling ladder to access the top shelves. The decor gave this place a classy but comfortable atmosphere. Here's a photo we snatched from the Julep website:

As you can see, there's plenty to choose from at Julep. We were greeted warmly and took a seat at the bar. My first drink was the Kiowa Cooler (watermelon-vanilla infused El Dorado white rum, mint, lime, soda), and it was every bit as delicious as it sounds. It was light and refreshing- just what I needed. Jacque went for the peppery Nelly Bly (jalapeno-infused Sobieski Vodka, Green Chartreuse, Falernum, lime, pineapple, Angostura Aromatic bitters, mint).
There's a variety of cocktails on their menu ranging from $8-13, and beers are cheap (you can get a can of Hamm's for $2). You may think the drinks are a little pricey, but it's an experience in itself to watch the making of a great cocktail. Mix that in with the pleasant ambiance, and we say it's totally worth it.
Julep does not skimp on excellent service. We loved watching the bartenders crank out fancy cocktails with smiles on their faces. I mean, this guy was even nice enough to pose for the camera! He knew how to treat a couple of dames like us, and helped us choose the right drinks based on what kind of flavors we enjoy. We practically cheered every time he went up the ladder... can you tell we're easily amused?
You HAVE to love a drink like this. KC, BABY!
We were lucky enough to try the cheese plate, and man, are we glad we did. It had a great assortment of cheeses, and we chowed down while we finished our third cocktail (it was THAT kind of Wednesday).
Our first happy hour was a great success! Julep will be a new regular spot for us, and we suggest you check it out as well! No doubt, you'll love it.
Purses down, bottoms up! ;)
