The weather in Kansas City was a little bit warmer last weekend. It shot back down this week but I am still dreaming of summer days hanging out by the lake and sipping on a refreshing cocktail and enjoying some fresh, juicy produce! I am a huge fan of just about all fruit but there is a special place in my heart for strawberries. So why not embrace this warmer weather and make a strawberry cocktail? I couldn’t find a reason to say no!
Todays cocktail is a mixture of fruit, herbs and wine… with a little vodka mixed in. It could easily be made in bulk as a sangria but I made it in a single serving because I’m not trying to turn up on a week night.
The wine and strawberries come together to make this a more refreshing cocktail while the basil adds a little more flavor to the cocktail.
1 oz vodka
4-6 oz white wine
2-4 basil leaves
In a shaker muddle your strawberries and basil together. Add vodka and white wine and shake well. Strain in to your glass and enjoy.
