A Mardi Gras Margarita

Mardi Gras is a holiday that I have never fully grasped or experienced at it's fullest. Growing up in the catholic faith i've definitely heard of it but normally knew of it as the holiday that falls around Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday and lent. I did know that New Orleans was the hot spot for the holiday so I was excited to be traveling there so close to the holiday. You can see my post about the 6 reasons you should travel to New Orleans here. Mardi Gras isn't on that list but only because it's such a seasonal event. When I was there we did get to see the Krewe De Vue parade which kicks off the Mardi Gras parade season in New Orleans.

Since Mardi Gras starts next week I decided to make a fun New Orleans inspired cocktail with the classic Mardi Gras colors so that you can celebrate this weekend or heck, even next Tuesday! The margarita has a little New Orleans kick to it as well just to spice things up!

1 teaspoon cajun seasoning

lime juice from 1/2 lime

4 ounces tequila

purple and gold sugar

Rim a glass with lime juice and dip in to a mixture of purple and gold sugar. Fill glass with ice and pour in tequila. Squeeze fresh limes in glass and stir well. Once stirred pour a teaspoon of cajun seasoning in glass and stir well.

Now put those purses down and bottoms up!
