A Classic Cocktail Variation: The Maple Bacon Manhattan

Last week I broke down the history and recipe of the classic manhattan. And this week I am sharing a fun variation of the the classic cocktail: the maple bacon manhattan! 

Because while the manhattan might be an OG in the world of cocktails it can still be stirred up into a new creation. This is a cocktail you will definitely want to master before you play with variations though. Especially with this variation which is almost as simple as the classic manhattan. How many times can I say classic before your head explodes? 

Ingredients -

2 oz whiskey

3/4 oz sweet vermouth

1/2 oz maple syrup

2 dashes angostura bitters

1 cherry (for garnish)

2 pieces of bacon (1 for shaking and 1 for garnish)


Fill a shaker with ice and add whiskey, vermouth, syrup, bitters and one piece of bacon. STIR (don't shake) to chill and blend. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a cherry and a piece of bacon. You can rim your glass with syrup and brown sugar as well for a little extra taste when sipping on your maple bacon manhattan.
